This project looks into the reinstatement of the mosque to it’s original form. It takes account the historical evolution of the mosque from 1933 to 2015. Scope of works include research of materials and design decisions which taken into account the heritage value of existing design as well as the end-user of the mosque in current times. As this is the royal mosque, the Sultan of Selangor himself visited the progress and be part of this project. This mosque was built in 1933 by Leofric Kstevens, it was one of the grandest mosque at it’s time, and especially a unique to Malaya itself as an ArtDeco inspired mosque. This project was awarded First Place by Malaysian Institute of Architects for ‘Conservation’ category 2019.
